Product description

Sika Aktivator-205 is an alcohol solution containing a bond-activating substance for activating bond faces prior to bonding and sealing with Sikaflex products. It is used to activate the following non-porous substrates such as metals, plastics, enamelled glass (ceramics) and painted surfaces. Method of application: Wipe bond faces with a clean lint-free paper towel moistened with Sika Aktivator-205. Change paper towel after each wipe. If pre-treated area is not bonded after 2 hours the activation process has to be repeated (max. 2 times). Ideal application and surface temperature is between 15°C and 25°C. Consumption depends on the specific nature of the substrates and manufacturing process. Tightly reseal the container immediately after each use. Prolonged exposure to atmospheric moisture will cause Sika Aktivator-205 to become opaque/cloudy and, therefore, inactive. Immediatly discard if it has become opaque instead of clear. Flash-off time will vary based on climatic conditions.

    In order to reinforce adhesion between the marble and the sealant I use this product. We will see how it evolves by the time but the application was easy and it dries very fast. Note : the surface of application should be cleaned in advance.

    Like most Sika products, a little pricey, because they work. The old adage.. You get what you pay for definitely holds true with there products. Although the price on this is 63 dollars, It will probably do a 1000 linear feet of prep. So, it will go a long way. My husband does renovations and swears by Sika products. He has never tried this product until now. He uses it prior to when he silicones a tiled shower to an acrylic shower pan or bathtub. He cant swear that it works, but as he says... he trusts Sika products, so he trusts he will never be called back to a job because the silicone seal failed. He has been called back twice in 20 years just for that reason, without using any type of prep. He says it goes on easily and has a long flash off time, giving you from ten minutes to 2 hours to apply sealant. And the Aktivator has a shelf life of 1 year. I hope this helps in your decision making.

    This adhesive activator is perfect at home, the garage and our Fifthwheel. After cleaning the surface where caulking or other material has to be put, I added this bond-activating solution, waited, then sealed the roof joint with caulking.
    It seems to be solidly fixed now; time will tell.
