Directions

Use as a direct substitute for sugar in beverages, cooking, and baking. Since it's about 25% sweeter than sugar, use less to achieve the desired sweetness. It blends easily and helps to moisten and brown when baking.

Good flavor, and excellent to make beverages sweeter while not being too sweet

Research gives very mixed reviews on whether or not this is suitable for a sugar free or low sugar diet in terms of its glycemic index. It tastes fine though. But for my purposes, which is making diabetic safe ice cream, I'll stick with liquid stevia or monk fruit especially.

I was misled into believing that agave nectar was far lower in fructose than agave syrup but it's not.. it's almost pure fructose, much higher than HFCS. Fructose metabolizes in the liver into fatty acid precursors, and increases serum triglycerides as a result. Choose maple syrup if you want a similar taste but don't want fatty liver disease.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 Agave Syrups Compared (5-star) for "Raw"
Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2023
    Verified Purchase
5-star is Rating for "Raw"; the rest of my review text is the same for all 3 products: "Agave In the Raw" , "Better Body Foods Agave..." , "Na-Tivo Agave". The picture (hopefully accessible to you) SAYS it, literally -- my punchline / conclusion on the 3 Agave's. The picture is ANNOTATED. Better Body says 'MILDEST' ; Raw says 'BEST' and Na-Tivo says 'MOST HONEY-LIKE'. I say this right away for two reasons: first, the words are indeed the conclusion and second, for the way the dash occurs in the pic it may confuse you: 'most honey-like is the rightmost bottle's annotation: Na-Tivo.

INTRO: All agave syrups are sweet. The three I review are not an exception. I won't go into all what you might want to use agave for (and thoughts of e.g. Splenda, by way of alternative), but make no mistake, if you have ANY doubt, agave is unequivocally sweet. Such is NOT true of Stevia for instance. Stevia MAY be sweet to some folks but is also, to most, unavoidably licorice-y tasting. Myself, I don't mind the tiny HINT of licorice in genuine maple syrup, but do not like stevia's licorice taste. Agave syrup in ALL types has no objectionable flavors. And is unequivocally sweet. But there are so many. Which one to buy. So I picked 3 and my review is here to help.

From left-to-right in the picture (see top [and/or picture itself] for more complete names):

BETTER BODY FOODS: Unquestionably (unequivocally, except you might get tired of me over-using the adjective even if it DOES SO apply to this product) the MILDEST-FLAVOR agave of the three products. I would rate it at 4 stars. So mild that it lacks some of the "charm" of agave syrup. But it is totally agave-syrup-level sweet. So if you NEED SWEET but want as little flavor as possible, I suppose this would be your best choice for agave syrup. OF NOTE: The bottle is NOT squeeze product thru a [generous] orifice type of dispensing. Rather it is POUR in a dispenser much akin to that typical of olive oil bottles. There is NO orifice. And the lid just PULLS off, once opened. The lid does not screw on. So now, all this "structural engineering" IS equivocal, not unequivocal. That is, I do not know which you would prefer: orifice and dribble/squeeze or big hole and simply pour. I do not know whether you would prefer, flip snap cap open to reveal orifice or with virtually no force required at all (perhaps good for arthritis folks) pull top off (with nearly no force) and pour. Obviously equivocal is the care to the bottle. The snap-open flip-lid to reveal orifice of other two products is safe if they tip over. THIS bottle tipped over is NOT safe once you've opened it. 'Sup to you on this structural engineering stuff.

RAW: I rate this product BEST -- an [yeah] UNEQUIVOCAL 5-stars. As noted ALL agave's are sweet. This product ("in the raw") has the most robust flavor. The flavor is NOT incisive though. It is big, round, tiny bit earthy. But is not what I have termed audio-system-with-ONLY-a-subwoofer. That is how I describe (criticize) Folgers instant coffee. Audio with subwoofer only is terrible. That analogy is NOT true of the wonderful full-flavor of In The Raw. First of all, the full flavor is NOT overly strong. More importantly, the full round taste is not pure-bottom-note like Folgers coffee. Also, though, In the Raw is not excessively mid-range heavy either, like Maxwell House instant coffee is. In fact, if this product were coffee it would be quite a wonderful cup. (Except I do prefer a little extra of the high notes in my coffee, even if I don't like emphasis on treble in audio systems.) (For the record, Caribou coffee's "Amy's Blend" was probably my favorite for coffee.) OK, back to the syrup. In the raw is wonderfully flavored, not overly strong, not overly bottom note (a la Folgers), not so intensely midrange (a la Maxwell house) and, simply put TOTALLY PLEASANT in the specific agave flavor that doesn't "hide away" but is also not overly imposing. THE IRONY: You don't need 鶹 to acquire this product because THIS produce (In the Raw) is in most supermarkets. So only if you need 鶹 to plop down the product at your door... Otherwise, you should find the product easily. And if you NEED sweet, but ALSO WANT some unique, but not overly imposing Agave flavor, this product is totally wonderful.

NA-TIVO: This agave syrup is a curious one. Sorry, but I have to use the adjective again: unequivocally THIS agave syrup is (without question) the most HONEY-LIKE of the three products. Personally I prefer the In the Raw unique Agave flavor (SO well done [see above]) to a honey-like flavor in an agave syrup. The Na-Tivo IS pleasant, don't get me wrong. The honey flavor is not that incisive, but it is definitely a higher-note type of agave flavor. I prefer the rounder agave notes of In the Raw. But, if you can't decide between using honey or agave, well, here be your solution, right? Since this agave is remarkably honey-like AMONGST agave's. Compared to genuine honey, I doubt there'd be a contest. But if you are both a honey and an agave lover then this would probably be your favorite agave. Still I give it only 4 stars.

SUMMARY: Once again all 3 agave products are sweet. NONE has an objectionable flavors. NONE are either too intense or too incisive. And all 3 products "essential summaries" are captured by very few words, which are these: BETTER BODY FOODS = THE MILDEST, IN THE RAW = BEST, ROBUST FLAVOR, TOTALLY PLEASANT & Un-Imposing, but a very nice bonus, NA-TIVO = MOST HONEY-LIKE

This is one of the organic best agave sweeteners I’ve tried. It has a smooth, mild sweetness that works perfectly in coffee, tea, or baking. The price is great for the quality, and it’s a healthier alternative to sugar. The size is perfect so it allows for youngest child to make her own lemonade. I also found that theres been no leakage, which I have found (and is frustrating to clean up) with others.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Go-To Natural Sweetener

    Why I Love It:

Perfect Mild Sweetness– Less overpowering than honey with a smooth, neutral flavor that doesn’t dominate drinks or recipes.

Great for Coffee & Tea– Dissolves instantly in cold/iced drinks (unlike sugar or honey). My iced matcha lattes are now flawless!

🌿 Vegan & Low Glycemic Index – A better alternative to refined sugar for my plant-based friends and those watching blood sugar levels.

Versatile in Cooking – Used it in baking (cookies!), dressings, and even cocktails—never crystallizes or overpowers flavors.

♻ Organic & Responsibly Sourced – Love that it’s USDA-certified organic and sustainably harvested.

    - Slightly thinner consistency than honey (but this makes it easier to pour!).

    How I Use It:
✔ Drizzled over oatmeal or yogurt
    ✔ Sweetener in homemade lemonade
✔ Golden syrup substitute in pancakes

If you want a natural, easy-to-use sweetener that’s kinder to your body than sugar, organic agave is a pantry must-have!

    Highly recommend!

Excellent! I used it to sweeten my homemade ginger ale. It worked great. It wasn't grainy or sat at the bottom of my glass. I'm excited to try it with other liquids.
