I think this unit is the best bang for buck. I’ve included “bounty wifi, and bounty basic” photos as well. I wish the harvest had a display like the bounty. It is one of 2 things it’s lacking in. The other is lamp height. The bounty goes to 24” and in my opinion this is close to the minimum. The harvest will do lettuce, spinach and herbs, but nothing that will grow to any height since the lamp is supposed to be about 6 inches from the plants And a maximum of 12” (for the lamp).
To people that wonder is it a good idea to spend that much on “salad”... YES, I’ve thrown out so much store bought produce that I easily justify buying one of these a year. When you grow your own and check it every 2-3 days you use everything and NO worry about salad salmonella!
I started with a bounty wifi as a gift and I think the bounty basic is all you need. I lost interest in the app in about a month and I check so often the notifications were kind of pointless.
As you can see in my photos, it doesn’t matter how many holes they have, there’s only really room for 2 “maybe” 3 plants in a unit at any given time. The harvest slim can still hold 2 plants but height is the issue. Keep in mind the harvest has WAY less water storage so make sure you can check every 2-3 days.
I wish they’d come out with a “Aerogarden Wall” that is 3 feet wide, 6 inches deep and 24-30” lamp height so you could do proper tomatoes and peppers. In my bounty wifi you can see 2 lettuce plants that have easily yielded 5 lettuce plants worth of leaves (not enough for a salad but daily for wraps and sandwiches, heck yes. The other bounty has a basil and Thai basil plant (can you see the struggling spinach in the middle?). I’ve harvested 10-15 “herb packs” worth of herbs off each pant and they are still going strong! When was the last time you saw a basil leaf the size of a grown mans palm? YES, that’s ONE basil leaf! (Picture 1).
Sorry my pictures are mostly the bounty, but you can see how they compare and I’ve only had the first harvest a 10 days and “hello perpetual spinach!” The other is in the box still and will get stevia seeds so I can cut sugar from tea and coffee forever!
