Aerius 5mg worked quickly and effectively for the symptoms of itching, watery and redness of my eyes. I timed my response, and it was about 22 minutes before I actually started to notice a difference. As the package indicates, this is a non-drowsy product, so unlike benadryl, I didn't fall asleep as soon as it started to work. I did find, however, that Aerius wasn't very effective on my hives, and didn't last the 24 hours that they claim. So, for me, it will be part of my allergy arsenal, but won't be my go-to for hive reactions. The attached photo is of my hive reaction 1 hour after taking the aerius. To be fair, I ended up in the hospital to be treated for this particular allergic reaction because even the benadryl didn't work...so...

    This is the best allergy OTC med in my opinion. I've had allergies all my life. Yes, there are some prescription brands that'll do the trick, but this is the only over the counter than doesn't dry up my sinuses to the point of getting a nose bleed like other popular brands.

    I suffer from allergies and have used pretty much everything available - prescription antihistamines put me to sleep, using generics of popular allergy medicines has helped somewhat. I didn't try Aerius because of the cost before it became available generically and the original has also dropped in price. I got mine for about 60 cents each and that was a bargain.
    So far these are THE BEST non-drowsy antihistamines I've used in the last 35+ years and even though on a fixed income I will continue to use Aerious.

    I have been chronically clearing my throat for months. During the day, during the night, it didn't matter - if I was awake, I was clearing my throat. Since I sleep with a CPAP machine, it was particularly annoying. The problem isn't really post-nasal drip - my throat has just felt gummy and swollen/restricted.

    A few days ago I did a google search and found that the most frequent cause of the need to clear your throat is allergies.

    Well, allergies are nothing new to me - I've been allergic to everything that sways in the wind for years, plus various indoor allergens.

    I went back onto google and found that corticosteroids and/or. allergy tablets.help with many symptoms. However, the allergy tablet I had been using, does not have anything for throats.

    I remembered that a friend (Joan L) of mine and her family use Aerius, so I decided what the heck, let's try it, especially since it says it relieves scratchy throats.

    Lo and behold, I took my first Aerius tablet this morning and I have not had to clear my throat all day!! Woooohooo!!! Success!!!
