There's no assembly required with this stool...it simply folds out of and into a compact rectangle that's easy to carry and set up. The legs are sturdy steel with an adjustable knob to tighten the joint at full height. The seat is made of a leather like material and feels thick and padded enough to wear well. I'm a stout lad... let's say 250+...and it held my weight well. For use with a piano, it would be comfortable for a student or performer, but I'm thinking that it might also be occasionally useful for a session of pleine air painting. Whatever you use it for, it's a sturdy stool that's worth the price.
