My speeds went from 40 MBps Download on 2.8 GHz TO 163 MBps Download on 5 GHz on my laptop.

I would like to say the one thing I was hoping for was a program with this but it was expected from the title of the product that there was a driver only with this model. But in the startup guide it shows the program with it. It says there is encryption to this WiFi adaptor also but I'm using a VPN, however, I'm not sure if it adds another layer of protection or not. If it does it would mean it's automatically encrypted because the program is not needed perhaps. I only see 'driver' downloads on the official website, not any other downloads for a program to tweak the settings manually.

The way you have to install this adaptor is you insert the USB drive > Install the driver setup (There's only one setup file don't worry) > Restart > Insert Physical WiFi adaptor > Click the WiFi icon > select at the top "WiFi 2" option (Windows 10) > Click your WiFi connection > Enter the WiFi password > You're ready to go!

I haven't had any issues with this adaptor, for the price and the speed upgrade you really can't go wrong with this product. It is worth the upgrade and it will give the closest to your maximum speeds you can get (that you pay for) without trouble and hassle of slower speeds if you're not using the 5 GHz Wifi that is.

I should say my Upload speed in the photo was taken when my network was congested by a lot of use, it's usually around 15MBps Upload. It is not because of the adaptor that my Upload speed was low.

Overall, I highly recommend this product!

UPDATE!! Got a replacement adapter which worked right away - unlike the first one I got that would just NOT work! That said - I have been working with my internet provider - have had my router swapped out - and could NOT figure out why any Zoom or Skype or Google meets would consistently drop connection every 2 minutes on the nose!! So after all the previously mentioned troubleshooting - it turns out that it is this WIFI adapter!! It connects to the internet and despite being within very close range to the router - it's absolute top speed is 860mps - which is great UNLESS you need it for work/school where online meetings happen - which renders it completely useless! So if you ONLY want it to have half decent wifi speed and will NOT be using it for any sort of online live streaming - google meet, etc - then it's ok for that. But if you work from home or are doing schooling that requires you to meet with others virtually it is a total disaster - it WILL cut out audio/video for approx 3 second EVERY 2 minutes - so you miss what's being said and others miss anything you say. So the meetings turn into "can you please repeat that?"..."sorry - you cut out again"..."hello - can you hear me?". Purchase with caution!!

Have an older version of this USB 2....which works very well. Upgraded PC with USB 3 ports so wanted to upgraded signal strength....this thing right out of the box would NOT connect to 5ghz...and would NOT even achieve the highest speed on 2.4ghz. Downloaded drivers did all the setup - still issues. Finally found forums for some help as Wise Tiger was NO help. Had to go into device manager and change setting from auto to manual. Great got a stronger signal...still not great and only about 200mbps faster than the 2.0 version i already had. Biggest issue now - it will NOT stay connected - constant disconnect and reconnect. NEVER had any of these issues with the older version. RETURN!!!! Total waste of time and money. Buy a different brand!

First off, and this will apply to everyone looking for a wifi connection for their PC, this one works great. It does what it needs to, comes with a installation USB to make things easier, there's really nothing to complain about.

However, if you are building a PC and are considering buying this over a motherboard that comes with WiFi, here's my experience (this will likely not apply to many people though):

- Although the connection is good with this dongle, I've noticed an increased speed using a M2 wifi port (the WiFi comes with the motherboard). Specifically, I'm using an ASRock X570 Steel Legend WiFi motherboard, which comes with WiFi built into the motherboard. The speed of the wifi the comes pre-built is, in my experience, a lot faster than this dongle is. I'm not saying this dongle isn't fast, it is, but if you are considering buying a motherboard without Wifi + this adapter versus just a motherboard with Wifi, I'd choose the second option.

Again, this dongle is pretty good, and it did exactly what I needed it to when I used my old PC. After building my own PC now with WiFi built into it, I've noticed the speeds are bit faster now for downloads/uploads, bother in speedtests and practice.

Side note: USB 2.0 was used on my old PC. This could have also had an effect on speed, but like M2 vs SATA storage devices, anything put directly into the motherboard will always be faster... even if by a little bit. So just weigh your pros and cons (costs) and just ask if you actually want one thing over another.
