Great Alternative to Napoleon OEM Smoker Tray
This charcoal box from BBQ-PLUS is an excellent replacement for the original Napoleon smoker tray. It’s made from solid cast iron and fits my Rogue 425XT perfectly. I compared it directly to the OEM version, and the only real difference I noticed was that the holes are slightly smaller on the Napoleon version — but not something that I believe will affect its performance. It even includes the same corner pocket for adding flavored wood chips. My only minor wish is for a guide to keep the lid from sliding, but it’s heavy enough that it stays put during use. If you’re looking to save some money without compromising on quality, this is a great alternative to the OEM part.

    Fits perfectly in my Rogue Pro S and looks to be a perfect dupe of part 67732 (though I've never used the OEM part).

    The tray feels really high quality, fits in place well and works great. Of course, it needs to be seasoned unlike the rest of my stainless steel grill... but that's fine and just like OEM.

    We had an original Napoleon charcoal pan insert ages ago which we have not been able to find recently, so were very pleased to find this on 鶹.

    It’s big and heavy - designed to take up ⅓ - ½ of your gas grill depending on the model. Double check your measurements as you want this resting on the two ledges that the flavorizer bars rest on, and not bear weight on top of the gas tubes. I don’t know how well the coating will stand up to use but am prepared to season the cast iron as I have my irons pans.

    It provides a shallow (single layer) charcoal pan that can be easily lit using the gas system, then allowed to settle in for a duel-fuel BBQ set up. A potential negative is that it is heavy and needs extra cleaning effort, else will rust. The high heat is normally good to vaporize grease and oils but the pan does need occasionally cleaning to ensure any remnants don’t drip onto the gas tubes and block and/or corrode them. The vent holes are also larger than the original this item replaces - so easier to light the charcoal but also easier for spent fuel and ease to spill into the rest of the BBQ - making cleaning a mess.

    That said, this is easily recommended and worth the effort to have a single BBQ with the best blend of fast n’ easy gas with the flavour and consistency of charcoal. The included smoker tray is great for soaking your favourite wood chips in but note that water or a lack of maintenance will result in rust. The lid does not fit nearly as well as the OEM Napoleon unit but you only need to cover the smoker section before replacing the original grills.

    Overall its a price-competitive alternative to the OEM items and makes for a great BBQ accessory.

    I think this smoker attachment for my grill is great. I’ve been using it a lot, and I really like it. It’s easy to install, and is just super sturdy compared to other similar items that I’ve seen. I like the finish on it too, as it feels durable.

    Here’s what I like about this smoker:
    -It works fine once you get it installed correctly
    -The finish is good
    -Nice and sturdy
    -No noticeable difference between this and a brand name’s offering
    -It’s priced well.

    And here’s what I don’t like about it:
    -It takes quite a long time to get it to work
    -It looks very dirty after every use, I feel like I need to clean it every time I use it
    -I don’t like that I basically need to remove it every time to clean it

    Overall, I would probably recommend this smoker attachment though. Despite my issues with it, I think all the attachments have very similar problems. I think it’s more a problem with the design of the barbeque, versus this product in particular. I think the only real issue with this smoker in general is that it does take quite a while for it to heat up, at least compared to some brand name ones that I’ve used.

    At $50 I would say it’s a great price though. The heating issue that I’ve mentioned is probably because it’s thicker/heavier (and therefore needs more heat to fully heat up), and I personally can overlook that because of how durable it feels. Comparable items are roughly $20 more, and I feel like I can trust this one more than those ones.

    We got this for out old charcoal grill for which the plate has seen better days. This is certainly VERY heavy and nicely powder coated. I do find the holes are overly large and expect to lose a lot of charcoal through those holes. The smoker top plate sits on the area for the wood chips, it does not have any guide to hold it in place which I feel is a design flaw as it moves too easily and scratches the surface. Not even sure when they put the the line of metal on the edge as it seems to serve no purpose.

    Having said all that, it's a solid $45 solution for our old grill.

    Although I don't have the same model this specific part is for, It can be used on top of the grill to provide a more complex charcoal and smoke flavour profile.

    This thing is solid. It's heavy, and with proper care, will last a long time.
