This product provides 1.59 g of single amino acid per day. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have liver or kidney disease, have been instructed to follow a low protein diet, if symptoms persist or worsen or for use beyond six months. Feelings of overstimulation and/or sleeplessness may occur, in which case discontinue use if symptoms persist or worsen. Low incidence of seizures has been reported with oral doses in individuals with or without a pre-existing seizure disorder. Mild gastrointestinal symptoms (transient nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea) have been reported. Body odour, flatulence, increased appetite or rash may occur.

Ingredients

Medicinal Ingredients: Serving Size: 1 Capsule. N-Acetyl-L-Carnitine (HCl) 500 mg. Non-medical Ingredients: sodium stearyl fumarate. Capsule: hypromellose.

Directions

Take two to four capsules daily with food, or as directed by a qualified health care practitioner. A minimum of three months may be required before observing an effect.

    The supplements are good, and it does what the description says it does. I take 3 per day. If you're taking this for medical reasons, I would say continue to go up till at least 4 per day before concluding that it doesn't work for you. I found this works better than Lion's Mane, which just wasn't effective enough.

    I think the comments about the smell are an over exaggeration. I am hypersensitive when it comes to smells (really strong bad smells makes me want to puke), and it's not even that bad. If I smell it, it doesn't make me wanna hurl or gag.

    Update: There's some more affordable alternatives but I found the potency and quality isn't great so you end up spending just as much if not more money in my experience.

    I’ve really beginning to second-guess supplement brands—I don’t know what’s really in them because they’re so deregulated. I’m switching many of my supplements to AOR because I trust the company—it’s a Western Canadian based and the products are easily researched. More money but, for me the trade off is worth it. So far I regularly purchase AOR r-high dose Lipoic Acid, Benfotiamine, B complex, and Alcar. The Alcar really has a “unique” smell—I hope that’s a good thing haha. Alcar is simply another quality product from this company…and “no”: I’m not being paid to say this!

    4 months later:

    So…after taking this for a few months I’ve edited my initial comments (above). This product really smells. I mean REALLY stinks of rotten fish. Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be—I’m not sure. I still took 2 pills twice daily, with R-Lipoic and Benfotiamine for my neuropathy. I was concerned that I would smell like the capsules…I don’t think I do yet. I’ve noticed that my neuropathy doesn’t hurt so much when I take this product—I’ve experimented with and without it (although there might be innumerable other variables). The Alcar, Benfotiamine, and R lipoic acid (high dose) definitely helps my feet. I’ll continue with this routine.
