It’s been a couple months, and I love this cpu, I had to do a bios update to get things running smoothly but that was simple enough.

Core temp and cpu z have odd numbers that seem to be doubled the actual speed, with Asus armour crate opened on the second monitor it shows anywhere from 4.3ghz up to 5.3ghz while core temp shows 9ghz-11ghz at any given time. Gaming is light work, editing photos with ease, I haven’t done any video editing yet but I will soon, basic stuff like drag and drop then export, no color grading or fine tuning clips. But by far lightyears ahead of the 3900x it replaced, I managed to snag it on a sale with monthly payments so it wasn’t such a big hit on the wallet. 100% recommend if you’re in the market for a workhorse.

DOA! I have been building systems for 30 years and this is the first time ever that I had an issue with my system not even booting up.

After exhausting everything for over two weeks I contacted a friend and spent a few more days troubleshooting. As I don't drive I waited for my roommate to give me a lift to the nearest Memory Express and paid out over $800 for them to run a full diagnostic and replace the CPU. By the time they were done and I was able to retrieve my system I was 3 days past the date to return it.

When all is said and done I believe it may be the quality of the.seller's product here as the people that worked on my system said they have no recalls as of yet for my choice of CPU. It is a $1300.00 mistake I will not make again.

Ich habe diese CPU nach langer Überlegung und Recherche gekauft. Die Daten waren vielversprechend.
Die Ryzen 9 Serie hatte unter Windows anfangs Probleme, die am Windows lagen, denn unter Linux waren sie von anfang an Leistungs-Monster.

Diese CPU ist absolute Spitze. Einige erste Erfahrungen:
20 Minuten FullHD Video in AV1 oder HEVC werden in unter 2 Minuten gecoded ... im Powersave Mode
AV1-FullHD wird mit links gecoded, wieder im Powersave. Auch 4K schafft sie spielen, hier fehlt aber noch eine geeignete Capture-Karte für ausführliche Tests. Zum Vergleich: ein Ryzen 7 5800 oder 3800 verschluckt sich bei AV1-Videos hoffnungslos.

Der Linux Kernel default wir im phoronix Benchmark in 45 Sekunden kompiliert, bei mir 46 Sekunden. Damit schließt er an die Spitzengruppe der CPUs an, und das zu einem 6tel bis 20tel des jeweiligen Preises.

Die CPU läuft bei mir fast durchgängig im Powersave, selbst wenn ich damit 60 virtuelle Maschinen gleichzeitig betreibe. Nur selten schalte ich sie mal auf den "normalen" Modus "balanced". D.h. sie ist auch meistens deutlich kühler als 60°. Ich habe "nur" eine leistungsfähige Luftkühlung eingebaut, werde jetzt aber mal einen Wasserkühler testen, denn mit Luftkühlger (beQuiet 5 Rock) kann sie schon einmal für wenige Sekunden bei maximaler Leistung 94 ° C Spitze erreichen, normal sind allerdings 58-80°, je nach Last.

Die Leistung ist absolut fantastisch. Was immer ich ihr aufgebe macht sie mindestens 5-10 Mal schneller als mein Ryzen 7 5800, von meinen diversen Intel CPU ganz zu schweigen.

Was spricht gegen diese CPU? Wenn man diese ungeheure Leistung nicht benötigt, als für's Büro, macht sie keinen Sinn. Für Video-Bearbeitung oder Gaming ist sie exzellent, unter Linux dürfte die Kodier-Leistung der der berühmten M-Prozessoren von Arm nahe kommen. Auch im Gaming ist sie exzellent, vor allem wenn man die ca 250-300 Euro Mehrpreis für die 3D-Variante scheut, die dann noch mal je nach Anwendung zwischen 1% bis 20% mehr Leistung liefert.

Der Ryzen 9 9950X hat ein exzellentes Preis-Leistungverhältnis. Für anspruchsvolle PC-Aufgaben, dir vor allem massives Multitasking oder Video-Kodierung verlangen, eine klare Kaufempfehlung. Besondere Empfehlung für Linux, hier spielt die CPU ihre ganze Leistung vollkommen ungebremst aus.

No puedo decir nada malo, lo utilizo para renderizar y sin duda es lo mejor que he probado en años.

Para los juegos que requieren una CPU muy bestia, (Como por ejemplo el StarCitizen) a conseguido aumentar los FPS sin necesidad de cambiar la gráfica (En mi caso, una GTX1070Ti Fe) jugando con todo en alto a 1080p he pasado de 30fps inestables y que no aumentaban ni con FSR ya que pegaba tirones, a unos 70fps con FSR activo en Calidad, sin FSR quedaría en 45FPS pero muy estables, dando una sensación de fluidez muy alta.

He intentado estresar esta CPU al máximo con la NZXT Kraken de 240mm como refrigeración y se queda en 85ºc como tope, una maravilla, eso si, este es mi caso particular, en entornos más calientes o húmedos esto puede variar, así que coger esto con pinzas, mi caso concreto es el Norte de España, clima frío, veremos en Verano como se porta y si tengo que comprar un Extintor :-) pero bueno, sencillamente en Verano dará menos rendimiento ya que ajusta el solo el evitar pasar a temperaturas elevadas reduciendo las frecuencias.

Si lo encuentras por debajo de los 700€ y necesitas potencia para trabajos brutos, lo mejor.

Importante tener memorias adecuadas, si compramos unas a 6000mhz fijaros que la latencia sea CL30 y si es a más, hacer la regla para convertir, en caso de 6400mhz sería CL32.

I benchmarked the performacne of FPGA development tools for an AMD 9950X system against an Intel iCore9 13900K system. The relative performance was mixed.
The tools tested were Xilinx Vivado, Atlera Quartus Pro, Siemans Questa and a tool of my own, HDLmaker. Both systems were running Ubuntu 22.04. The Intel system was using the standard Ubuntu kernel, the AMD system was using the mainline Ubuntu kernel. The standard Ubuntu kernel lacks Ethernet drivers for the AMD board, the mainline kernel fully supports it.

The Intel iCore9 13900K is faster for Vivado and Quartus Pro, The AMD 9950X is faster for Questa and HDLmaker.
