The longest strands of dried leaves in this Kalami (Ghalami) tea from Assam, India are about 1 cm long on average. The number of flowers or yellowish fragments is minimal. The box contains a foil bag that is packed full with 454 grams of tea. This is a generous amount that could last a couple years for two people using the box daily. Customers concerned about keeping humidity out of the product might consider transferring it to a sealed container.
As a single origin tea, the flavor of this product is clean, not astringent, not smoky. This is a true, unadulterated black tea, the basis of most Indian and English teas. The roast level is dark so the tea is truly black and rich in taste after a minute or two of steeping. The leaves hold up to three steeps if you measure out one flat teaspoon to make one strong cup at a time.
Due to the uncrushed leaves here, this tea is a smoother, finer drinking experience than bagged teas made for India, UK, or Canada markets. Of course, a super tippy Assam with longer strands, tea tree flowers, and lighter roast tends to be more fragrant and even smoother. (Vedict Teas Super Orange Pekoe Assam is that premium tea.)
This is not a super tippy tea, but I enjoy it for rich, smooth flavor and excellent value.
