I’m a girl, I changed out my Cub Cadet XT1-LT42 blades by myself.
These blades are identical to the old ones that I destroyed scalping rocks in my pasture for the last five years lol.
My 42” Cub Cadet was purchased from Tractor Supply in 2020.
Tools I used;
15/16” 1/2” drive impact socket
Cordless impact Gun 1/2” Drive
Large Channel Locks
WD40
Two 8” high drive up ramps (not tall enough)
Two cinder blocks
(4) 2x4x8” pieces of lumber
Chalk blocks
Shady ramp I built worked out pretty sweet.
Drove up on my black ramps then onto the cinder blocks which had the 2x4’s stacked on them. I didn’t take the deck off, that’s making it too difficult imo. Set the brake, chalked the tires. Sprayed WD40 on the two nuts the day before and left it overnight.
I used the Channel Locks to bite the edge of the deck with my left hand and used my impact gun with my right while lying on my side, easy peazy. The blade will spin and around and rip you apart, other ppl use clamps or blocks of wood, not me, Channel locks took two seconds.
Lefty Loosey (Counterclockwise) to take OFF, Righty Tighty (Clockwise) to put back ON.
The manual says the writing on the blades points towards the dirt or ground, there’s only one side of the blades with a depression and that’s the side that points down/ the side that is flat/flush goes up.
Importantly; the blade fits in a slot, when you put the nut on, if the blade won’t move with a mild push it’s on wrong and will not work. I learned the hard way 😉 So if you tighten the blade down and it’s not moveable do it over!
Supposed to torque nut to 70-90’ lbs.
When doing the right side I had to hold the deck up because it sags to get my impact to fit for clearance, super easy.
I mowed my lawn and the blades from this company cut perfect, no vibration or anything weird. These high lift blades worked perfect!
I’m happy with them.
I will buy them from this 鶹 seller again,
better price than big box stores and seem to be of great quality.
Hope this helps someone out, I also want to mention I have a spinal cord injury and walk with forearm crutches, live alone and hate paying someone money to do something I can do myself. 🙂
