    This joystick fit perfectly into my old OEM controller. The joystick is somewhat shorter than the old N64 joystick, and has a soft rubber feel, as opposed to hard plastic. It's more like the joystick for a GameCube controller. This is fine for me, but some people may prefer the older feel. The installation was easy, the joystick even comes with a small screwdriver, and no soldering is required. It took me about 15 minutes to install.

    My only complaint is that the joystick clicks in, like a PlayStation controller's L3/R3 buttons. The N64's (and even the GameCube's) controller never had this functionality, so I'm not sure why they included that feature in the replacement joystick.

    This is a great stick replacement specially for the price.
    Gives a more gamecube-like feel to the controller and very easy to install.
    Didn't need any tools other than the screwdriver provided along with instructions
    You should be capable of even speed running most games with this stick although I do find it could be a little too sensitive for some people's liking.
    But it's perfect for games that require a lot of stick movement and won't kill your fingers like Mario party.
    Anyway at worst if you don't like it it's very easy to swap back to the original and you can use this to restore a decaying controller that a friend or brother can use

    If you are able to do a bit of hands on work yourself this is a great update to fix a broken stick and make your N64 controller even better. The hall effect sensor should last forever and it does feel a lot more durable and I tested the stick by playing Episode 1 podracer and the response is excellent and 0 stick drift, it feels very accurate. 10/10

    I never tried a hall effect N64 joystick before, so I went with the reviews and the 8bitdo brand reputation as I'm a big fan of their products.

    The joystick is disapointing. Anybody with a half decent experience playing Goldeneye will immediately notice the joystick is overly sensitive and it is more difficult to aim with it which kind of ruins the experience. I'v got a similar feeling when playing Turok, even though that game has a different way of aiming with the joystick.

    That being said, I think it works wonder with Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64, as well as 1080 Snowboarding. I realize how much I don't need to fight the original joystick but the game itself. Maybe the joystick will grow on me as I'll play other similarly controlled games.

    Waverace 64 is a mixed bag since you need fine grained control of your jetski but since the joystick is overly sensitive with precise movement near its center deadzone, you have to over compensate all the time.

    Call me disapointed and baffled. Not a bad joystick but not that great either. What happened, 8bitdo?

    Even better than expected. Puts the original thumbsticks to shame and is incredibly simple to install with nothing more than the included screwdriver. The lack of a dead zone along with the precision these sticks provide, almost feels like a massive reduction in latency.

    Highly recommended. Makes N64 controllers better than they were in the late 90s fresh from their packaging. You really don't need to know much more than how to use a screwdriver to complete this upgrade.

    I consider this control stick a very significant upgrade.
    It offers a very similar performance to an original control stick (accurate in other words.)
    It is much safer to use for the Mario Party mini games than the original.
    It is so well made that I think it will outlive the rest of the buttons by many decades so long as you keep the control stick clean.
    It feels like a softer GameCube stick and can also be clicked in like one as well.
