I used this pump to flush two different brands of tankless water heaters (Rinnai and Takagi) and it worked perfect for both. For both of them, I put 3 gallons of vinegar in a 5 gallon bucket, dropped this pump in there, used a couple washing machine supply line hoses to make the connections, and that was it.
One final note, since several other reviewers mentioned having to do different things to "prime" the pump (e.g. turning the pump on and off; unscrewing the hoses; etc)...I found that all I needed to do - after submerging the pump and plugging it in - was simply tip it to the side for about 5-10 seconds. You'll see and hear it sucking in the liquid (vinegar in my case) and then it immediately started pumping. Super easy.
