Nice little circuit! I used it for a project to boost the sound up for a user notification. Don't expect pristine studii-quality audio, but it does the job. You can also buy the DIP version of the chip and make your own, which of course I had to try.

Works at 5 volts. Interfacing sensors the the arduino is excellent.
One of the few amplifiers which do not require a bias on input to work properly at low signal levels.
    Happy customer.

I couldn't get them to work. I used a 9v (tested 9.2v) battery between VCC and outside ground terminal, connected an 3.5mm male connection to audio output Jack on my phone with music playing. Put volume to full. And connected an 8 ohm speaker 2" diameter to the output terminal. But I didn't get a sound regardless of the setting of the potentiometer.
I don't know why. Nothing looks damaged. Not sure how to test surface mount components.

I used two of these to build my own headphone amplifier powered from a 9V battery. This allowed me to individually control the volume of the keft and right channels. I'm deaf in one ear but not the other so it doesn't make since to crank up the volume in my good ear as much as my bad ear.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good, small amolifier

I found these little amps to be perfect for my Arduino project. I use an MP3 board for sound effects, but I needed more volume than it could provide. This device was great for that purpose. I added a larger speaker and now have more than enough volume. I did need to change the input to the amplifier. This small unit will saturate and distort if you do not select the proper input. I used the headphone/earplug output on the MP3 board for the input to the amplified (impedance matching). Not great fidelity, but definitely good.
I only gave it four stars because there is no practical way to mount the board. It does not have a hole for securing it to a surface. I must strap it down or let it dangle. Fortunately, it is a small board.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT RECOMMEND These amplifiers produce extremely low sound quality

    DO NOT RECOMMEND
These amplifiers produce extremely low sound quality. I was working on a project and wanted to make several starwars sound effects and these added a lot of static to the MP3s. Ended up going with another amplifier that was much better and cheaper.

Also the volume dial on these is very low quality to the point that at most points it only produces static and you have to find the sweet spot in order to get anything else. More like tuning a radio that turning up the volume. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Didn’t need 5 but the 3 I tried worked. (The other 2 probably work too,but didn’t need them)
