It's a bar. My mother is a senior with leg issues so this will just be good enough for use all around the house, hall and mainly the bathroom area. Rubber add to the touch is nice. My senior mother loves them cause of it so we had to switch from regular metal bars to these. Rubbers look ok and should last. Although, I think they should have stretched that rubber cause as it stands you kinda have to take hold right in the middle of the bar. But that's just a personal opinion, nevertheless 5 stars so far.
