Product description
Presenting impressive reach in a relatively compact design, the Sony E-mount 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary lens, from Sigma, is a versatile telephoto zoom mixing a hand-holdable design with apt optical performance. A series of low dispersion glass elements are used to achieve high clarity and color accuracy throughout the zoom range, and to suppress chromatic aberrations and color fringing. Complementing the optics is intuitive handling, in which a stepping motor delivers fast, near-silent autofocus performance along with fine-tuned manual focus control. Additionally, four stop-effective optical image stabilization helps to reduce the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting and this 100-400mm is also compatible with the optional TS-111 Tripod Socket for steady shooting atop a tripod or monopod.

- Reviewed in Canada on October 4, 2021Verified PurchaseI will keep it simple, this lens is amazing value for money, well worth the investment. All the photos posted are taken with this lens, I use it with a Sony a6400. The lens is heavy but it is worth carrying around, it has a premium build and great features. I got a used lens from seller at approx $900 and o had no issues. I would gladly recommend seller and product.

- Reviewed in Canada on September 19, 2021Verified PurchaseI have tried the Sony 200-600 the Sony 100-400 and the Tamron 150-500. Both the Sonys had slightly better overall quality, and in my estimation the Sigma was neck and neck with the Tamron in picture quality. The Auto focus felt just as responsive as the Sony pair, and better than the Tamron. Best Bang for the buck, at least my buck.

- Reviewed in Canada on October 7, 2021Verified PurchaseGood range and fast AF with great image stablization for half the price of the Sony 100-400mm. Very happy with the purchase. Make sure you send it to sigma for a firmware upgrade if you have Ver .01. Big improvement on AF and OS. Also will give you the option to update later firmwares via camera. Sigma will update it for free.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 11, 2023Verified PurchaseIt s very capable lens which is very sharp throughout the range! Wide open performance is excellent specially at 200, 300 and 400 mm. However, it gets soft at closer aperture.

- Reviewed in Canada on March 26, 2023Verified PurchaseThis is a good piece of glass. If you're looking to cut costs without compromise of image quality, this will not dissapoint. The image stabalization on the lens works well and if you plan to mount this on a tripod/monopod, get the attachement to mount the lens to the tripod. It's a heavy lens.
I bought this on sale through 鶹, second hand and was happy I did.
If you're on the fence about this lens, just go for it. You'll save money, and you'll get quality.

- Reviewed in Canada on March 30, 2022Verified PurchaseLots to like about this lens, especially the push/pull zoom feature. It needs to be on a tripod, I used the Haoge one from 鶹, works just fine except it needs a Swiss Arca style tripod head

5.0 out of 5 stars Estabilización sobresaliente

5.0 out of 5 stars Ottima lente, confezione incompleta

5.0 out of 5 stars The First Of Its Kind!
Verified PurchaseTypical of Sigma’s ‘Contemporary’ line of lenses, the 100-400mm DG DN OS aims for good performance in a compact and lightweight package, at a competitive asking price. It comes up trumps for image quality, delivering excellent sharpness and contrast, while keeping colour fringing, distortions, ghosting and flare to a minimum. It’s pricier than the original DSLR-mount DG OS HSM version of the lens but the boost in image quality makes it well worth the extra outlay.
Sigma has beaten the competition in being the first third-party lens maker to offer a native, mirrorless-optimized full-frame super-telephoto zoom for Sony's E-mount, and at just 80-90k it is a very attractive alternative to its name-brand competitor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Très bon télézoom
